Designing ElectriFI Country Windows

Blue-Ant is involved in assessing the market opportunities for establishing dedicated ElectriFI country windows in a number of African countries, among which Kenya, Tanzania, Eswatini and Uganda. ElectriFI, or Electrification Financing Initiative is a blended finance instrument to support renewable energy private sector investments. ElectriFI is financed by the European Commission’s 11th European Development Fund (EDF) and managed by the Association of European Development Finance Institutions (EDFI). Depending on the country, market studies have focussed on opportunities in one or multiple RE sub-sectors including SHS, mini-grids, clean cooking, energy efficiency, captive power, small (<10MW) IPPs and productive use. All studies include the identification of a concrete pipeline of potential ElectriFI investments and recommend on the country-specific fund structure to exploit the investment potential.
